The Risen Phoenix Awards

Every organization has awards that are designed to commemorate certain achievements of individuals in the organization. Giving awards, as well as earning them is a time honored tradition. Every member strives to accomplish the qualifications necessary to achieve certain awards, but the act of earning an award must be meaningful with merit…or the award is meaningless.

General Procedures

Every award given is closely monitored by the Lordship Council. The Lordship Council is the SOLE AUTHORITY to authorize awarding of any medals or commendations. Any unauthorized Medals or Commendations found on a member’s signature or Service Record will be immediately revoked and the offending parties will be subject to reprimand, demotion, dismissal or any combination of the three.

Recommendation / Submitting an award

To properly recommend a member for an award, these guidelines must be adhered to:

1)      Recommendations and Submissions are made by the Division Commander, Department Head, Department Liaison, Command Staff and Lordship Council only.

2)      No recommendations for awards will be processed if the award is for the member submitting.

3)      Submissions and Recommendations will be made in writing, either by PM, email or Forum Post. If more detail is required for a specific award, a reply will be sent requesting further details.

Note: Annual Awards have a deadline for submission, and eligibility criteria. Please review the criteria prior to submission.

4)      Recommendations can be made at anytime.

5)      The Lordship Council puts out Finalized Awards Statements every 3 months or so, depending on the amount of recommendations submitted.

Service Record Entry / Maintenance

The Lordship Council will enter awards into a member’s service record. The Lordship Council may review a member’s Service Record in order to determine a member’s eligibility for an award.

Major Awards

It signifies undying devotion, stellar command accomplishments, the forging of diplomatic ties and the overall self-sacrifice for the furthering of the strength of the Risen Phoenix organization. Recipients of this medal may receive it upon retirement, major inactivity or a real world situation that qualifies for the medal. This medal is only given once per recipient.

Valor “V” Device

Medal of Valor

It may be awarded if the efforts of the individual awarded lead to a victory in game for the Risen Phoenix –and- are in keeping with our Highest and Finest traditions. This award can be given multiple times and is usually accompanied with a Battlefield Promotion.

Legion of Merit

The RPHX Legion of Merit is awarded for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements. It is the third most senior decoration in the RPHX. The decoration is issued both to RPHX personnel and to military and ambassadorial figures of foreign fleets and clans. The Legion of Merit (Commander Degree) is the most senior award authorized for issuing outside of the RPHX and is normally given to an Allied Fleet Admiral or Admiralty rank.

Legion of Merit Criteria

The degree of Chief Commander are awarded only to General Officer members of Foreign Fleets  and Clans and is based on the relative rank or position of the recipient as follows

  • Chief Commander: Fleet Admiral or effective leader of an Allied Fleet or Clan.
  • Commander: Equivalent of a RPHX Executive Admiral or higher position but not to The Fleet Admiral.
  • Officer: General or Flag Officer below the equivalent of a RPHX Executive Admiral, i.e.,  Vice Admiral, Rear Admiral, Commodore, Captain / Fleet Captain or equivalent rank for service in assignments equivalent to those normally held by a Lordship or Admiralty Officer in RPHX Brotherhood service; or Military Attaches / Ambassadors.
  • Legionnaire: All recipients not included above.
  • A minimum of 5 Command Staff Members and all of the Lordship must recommend this medal for one person.
  • When the Legion of Merit is awarded to members of the RPHX it is awarded without reference to degree. The criteria are "for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements". Additional awards of the Legion of Merit are denoted by award stars.
  • The performance must have been such as to merit recognition of key individuals for service rendered in a clearly exceptional manner.
  • Performance of duties normal to the grade, branch, specialty or assignment, and experience of an individual is not an adequate basis for this award.
  • For service not related to actual war the term “key individual” applies to a narrower range of positions than in time of war and requires evidence of significant achievement.
  • In peacetime, service should be in the nature of a special requirement or of an extremely difficult duty performed in an unprecedented and clearly exceptional manner.
  • However, justification of the award may accrue by virtue of exceptionally meritorious service in a succession of important positions.
  • The degrees of the decoration were clearly influenced by the French Légion d'honneur.
